Students learn paramedic skills
In 2010, 17 Aboriginal students, Years 9-12, were recruited to spend four days at ECU to get a taste of what it’s like to be a nurse or paramedic.
Funded by the Faculty of Computing, Health and Science, Teaching and Learning Grants, the project was specifically designed for Aboriginal school students and included an Aboriginal nurse co-ordinator, a visit to Kurongkurl Katitjin and involvement by Aboriginal nursing and paramedic students.

Ongoing funding for this project is currently being sought. We are also keen to offer this program to Aboriginal secondary students in rural and remote areas.
