Future research students

The School of Nursing and Midwifery is committed to providing a high level of service to staff and students undertaking research activities.

Get ready with a research degree

At the Centre for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Services Research, we welcome applications from potential research students in the following areas:

  • Safety and Quality in Healthcare
  • Ageing and Aged Care
  • Improving Outcomes for Adults with Chronic Health Conditions
  • Childbearing, Children and Young People.

We are seeking prospective Master by research, or PhD students to undertake research projects on a particular topic.

These may be individual projects, or collaborations with other institutions or industry partners. In some cases, the projects may also include funding opportunities such as scholarships.

Research support

Research student intranet

The Research Student Intranet is your gateway to research-related information, news & events, resources and support.

A dedicated research writing consultant is available to help research students and staff to improve their writing skills, as well as a research consultant/statistician who can provide support to those who want to improve their quantitative and statistical analyses. Both the research writing consultant and research consultant/statistician run activities and workshops to support our researchers.

Research journey

ECU has a vibrant research culture that is recognised nationally and internationally. Undertaking a research project at is a major commitment of time and resources. Your research journey will take you through a number of stages and milestones. The stages of the research journey include:

  • Provisional candidature;
  • Confirmation of candidature;
  • Undertaking your research;
  • Writing and presenting your research;
  • Thesis examination; and
  • Graduation.
