Gina is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Currently teaching NCS1101 Health and Healthcare Systems. This is a first-year unit which examines the role of the registered nurse in the Australian health care system. It introduces the student to the areas of the Australian healthcare system; Population health and epidemiology; Clinical governance; Self-regulating professions and personal accountability; Teamwork and leadership in interprofessional patient centred healthcare; Codes and scope of practice; Historical and contemporary roles of the nurse with the implications for future practice.
Gina worked in a variety of hospitals in all areas and specialties of nursing before joining ECU as a clinical educator and sessional tutor. In 2003 Gina left ECU to assist with the development of the Enrolled nursing program at West Coast TAFE. This involved writing the curriculum, and the development and management of the clinical program, whilst teaching a variety of units. In 2004 was seconded to the Department of Education as a content writer to assist with the development of an Australian online teaching resource. Since returning to ECU Gina has held many roles: unit coordinator; lecturer; tutor; undergraduate course coordinator; and clinical coordinator whilst teaching in a variety of units in the undergraduate course.
