ECU’s SOAR Centres are getting bigger and better in 2011, with an even broader range of facilities and resources on offer for Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) students.
The Centres have been a hit ever since their debut in 2009. Located on both Joondalup and Mount Lawley campuses, they provide support, opportunities, advice and resources (SOAR) to HDR students in need.
The Joondalup SOAR Centre is located within the newly-renovated Research Commons, where students also have access to hot-desk-style workspaces, a kitchen, meeting rooms, printer and photocopier, and video conferencing technology.
The SOAR Centres offer peer-to-peer training through SOAR Ambassadors who, as HDR candidates themselves, are available Monday to Friday to share their research skills and assist other HDR and Honours students.
In addition, the Ambassadors are at hand for support with any aspect of student life, including coping with a cultural, academic or campus transition. They can help with career development too, and finding casual employment opportunities.
Visit your nearest SOAR Centre in 10.102 at Joondalup, and 3.143 at Mount Lawley.
