Student prize winners celebrate success

High-achieving Faculty of Business and Law students recently celebrated their success at the 2011 Student Prize Evening on Wednesday 6 April, held at the heritage-listed Mt Eliza House in Kings Park.
The Student Prize Evening is an annual tradition held to formally reward the Faculty’s hardest-working students. The prizes are sponsored by many donors and organisations in industries relevant to students’ study areas.
This year over 60 prizes were awarded, from 40 sponsors across the areas of business, law, finance, marketing, tourism, management and human resources. The winning students were each presented with sponsored prizes that recognised their accomplishments in 2010.
The ceremony also provided each winner with a chance to accept their award on stage, and receive a photograph with their sponsor. Afterwards, students and sponsors were able to meet each other, whilst drinks and food were served.
Natalie Mills, the highest-achieving ECU graduate for 2010 and subsequent University Medal winner, attended the event to receive four Faculty of Business and Law prizes. She won the CPA Australia Prize, the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) Prize, the Institute of Chartered Accountants Prize, and the Provident Financial Services Prize for Personal Finance III.
Also in attendance were two former Faculty of Business and Law Executive Deans: Professor Wally Cox and Emeritus Professor Val Pervan AM, who also sponsored a student prize. They joined current Executive Dean Professor Atique Islam to honour the Faculty’s top students.
The winners of five scholarships were also recognised on the night, including Matthew Lamb, who won the City of Joondalup Focussing on the Future ECU Award.
