  • Picture This Photo Competition

Show what Hillarys means to you and you could be in the running to win some great prizes

Capture Hillarys your way in the ‘Picture This’ Photo Competition. The competition is a chance for everyone who loves Hillarys Boat Harbour to show why it’s one of their favourite places. There are prizes up for grabs for the best photos, including $1000 in cash.

Take photos anywhere within the Harbour precinct and select your favourite to enter. Upload it online along with 25 words describing what Hillarys means to you.

Competition categories include Outdoor Leisure and Landscape; Retail and Entertainment; and Family and Friends. Prizes will be awarded in both ‘youth’ and ‘adult’ age groups for all categories.

The competition supports the Department of Transport’s recent study of the value of Hillarys Boat Harbour. The research was undertaken by ECU’s Dr Helen Cripps, from the school of Marketing, Tourism and Leisure, and her team of researchers. Earlier this year, the team conducted face-to-face interviews at the Harbour and there was also an online survey.

The research will provide information about the value of harbour activities, from recreational and commercial fishing to retailing, tourism and hospitality, and other activities such as swimming and boating. The final report is due to launch in November.

The photo competition winners will be announced at an event in November, to support the launch of the research report. Entries open online on Monday 26 September and close on Wednesday 19 October.
