Professor participates in Academic Leaders program in Mexico

Thursday, 15 March 2012

ECU’s Foundation Professor of Management, Professor Alan Brown, has recently returned from an enriching teaching experience in Mexico. Professor Brown travelled there in February to visit the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Queretaro campus, as an invited guest of their Academic Leaders program.

Tecnológico de Monterrey is a multi-campus private university in Mexico with around 100,000 students. As one of the leading educational institutions in Mexico, the Academic Leaders program was implemented in 2008 in order to move beyond traditional university teaching. By bringing nationally and internationally renowned academics and professionals to their classrooms, students are given the unique opportunity to interact directly with experts from a broad range of areas.

Professor Brown’s visit was hosted by the Department of Industrial Engineering, who wanted their students to have exposure to his human resource management knowledge to extend their thinking past engineering issues.

During his time there, he presented a conference address, taught a number of seminar classes, and conducted a workshop for staff and graduate students on getting published.

“I was pleased to share my knowledge and experience with staff and students at Tecnológico de Monterrey, especially as it applies to engineering. It was also interesting to find out about local human resource management issues in Mexico,” said Professor Brown.
