Background
Mary has worked as an academic at universities in various countries, including University College Dublin and Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and Kwansei University, Japan. More recently Mary's interest in Positive Psychology encouraged her to train as a councilor and life coach. Mary is now a private assessor at the Australian Institute of Professional Counselors and Life Coach Institute.

Research Areas and Interests
Mary's main research interests have been in cross cultural psychology, psycholinguistics, reading (different scripts such as Japanese kanji and kana) and deaf perception, memory, cognition, and identity and wellness. Mary's ongoing research studies include the mental and physical health benefits of yoga and meditation.
