ECU School of Science attends Perth's National Science Week

Friday, 25 August 2017

Glen Thompson, Michelle Ellis, Tyson Langton-Weatherley, Vishwavi Mukthi, Crischell Montealegre, Roxanne Ryan, Rados Zivkovic, Claire Quinlan, attended on behalf of Computer and Security Science - with their Making IT w/Science program.

Visitors to the National Science Week were firstly able to explore the Internet of Things. Here they got to see the various sensors and understand their capabilities. Parents, in particular, were interested in this display identifying where they have seen these sensors in their daily lives.

Visitors to the stall also experienced different coding activities that highlighted ECU course majors: software engineering and cyber security. One set of computers had Arduinos where students could change the code to flash the lights in different patterns. The other computer had a game that allowed them to learn Python.

Our ECU students were able to teach these students, share their stories and explain real world applications.
