CMER's postgraduate students made the news this week when Casper Avenant, Charlie Phelps, Maria Samsanova and Chanelle Webster along with other ECU staff and students volunteered to plant Banksia's and other native species to help the survival of the endangered Carnaby's black cockatoo. The Tree Planting event on the 16th July was organised by WildCampus, a volunteer group set up to improve remnant bushland on campus, of which Casper is a coordinator. A great effort that illustrates when tackling conservation issues marine biology students do not stop at the beach.
