This project involves development of accurate, simple, reliable and infield voltammetric methods for the detection of heavy metals in ground water at ppb levels. In particular; the development of an anodic stripping voltammetric (ASV) method for the detection of arsenic (III) and arsenic (V) down to 5ppb levels. This research is done in collaboration with UK company, Cogent Environmental. This project will allow you to gain skills in the use of voltammetric equipment, ICP-OES instrument, ground water sample collection, statistical analysis and improve your laboratory skills in pipetting, standards preparation and method development. You will need to have a sound background in analytical chemistry and an interest in environmental chemical analysis.
