Examination

Special examination conditions

You need to register with the Student Equity and Diversity Officer who provides a coordinated service for students with disabilities or medical conditions, permanent or temporary, that may affect various aspects of a student's life while at university.

Deferring your examination

You may apply for deferral on one or more of the following grounds:

  1. ill health or injury
  2. compassionate grounds
  3. representation in sporting activities at a state or national level
  4. representation in cultural activities
  5. a matter relating to your employment
  6. other special grounds considered appropriate by the Assessments Manager (eg. religious circumstances)

Use of bilingual dictionaries

In the case where a unit permits the use of bilingual dictionaries in examinations by students whose first language is not English. The following procedures will be followed:

  • Prior to the commencement of the examination, invigilators will ask the students if they intend to use a bilingual dictionary.
  • Invigilators will check the dictionaries to ensure they have not been tampered with.
  • Extra time will not be given to students in light of English language proficiency considerations.

Calculator certification procedure

Some units permit the use of calculators in examinations. If you wish to take a calculator into your examination but you are not sure if your type of calculator is permitted, please contact your tutor for clarification.
