Advanced Standing, Credit and Substitution

Advanced Standing

The granting of Advanced Standing is made on the assessment for credit or substitutions of a range of prior learning.

Credentialed experience
  • From a recognised higher educational institution
  • From a TAFE or other VET provider
  • From a professional body, enterprise, private educational institution, or other similar body
Uncredentialed experience
  • Work experience or other forms of practical experience, including voluntary work
  • Life experience

Credit

Credit is recognition granted towards meeting the requirements of an award program, either on the basis of prior study, or of prior experience, assessed as equivalent in content and level to the units for which credit is sought.

Substitution

Substitutions are studies specified or allowed where a student undertakes alternative work in place of a unit (or units) scheduled in the program.

How do I apply?

If you are applying on the basis of credentialed experience you need to:

  1. Obtain from Student Central an Application for Advanced Standing
  2. Contact your School Student Support Officer.
  3. Submit your completed application along with supporting documentation to Student Central.

If you are applying for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) on the basis of uncredentialed experience you need to contact your Course Coordinator whose details are available from the School Student Support Officer for application details.
