Credit Point System
In Semester 1, 2004, ECU introduced a credit points system. Credit points greatly simplify the administration of student records, calculation of HECS, fees, and so on. The credit points system is very straightforward, as you can see from the following basic principles:
- A pass bachelor degree will be 360-480 credit points
- The semester normal full time load will be 60 credit points
- The annual normal full time load will be 120 credit points
- Units will normally have credit points values of 5, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30
- Most units will be 15 credit points
The course structure for undergraduate courses is:
| Award | Total Credit Points | Normal Number of Years | Recommended Structures |
|---|---|---|---|
| Associate Degree | 240 | 2 | 16 units of 15 points |
| Bachelor Degree | 360 | 3 | 24 units of 15 points |
| Bachelor Degree | 480 | 4 | 32 units of 15 points |
| Bachelor Honours | 480 | 3 yr degree plus 1 yr Hons | 24 units of 15 points plus 6 units of 20 points |
| Bachelor Honours | 480 | 4 yr degree with Hons within same structure | 32 units of 15 points |
