Intermitting a Course
If you have a grade other than 'W' you are able to intermit your place in a course for up to 12 months. Towards the end of this period the university will contact you, via email (sent to your ECU student email), with re-enrolment information.
Discontinuing a Course
Applications must be submitted in writing - complete a Request to Intermit (Defer) or Discontinue (withdraw) Course and submit to Student Central.
To intermit or discontinue without financial liability or academic penalty refer to the Important Dates page.
Discontinuing Units
1. Please note discontinued units will be recorded on your academic transcript as follows:
| After the Financial Penalty Date but prior to the Academic Penalty Date | W |
| After the Academic Penalty Date | WF fail |
2. Discontinued units that will not be recorded on your academic transcript:
Before the Financial Penalty Date
Census Dates and Teaching Periods For Units
The new legislation requires that for every unit of study offered, the University must set a census or reporting date for the period in which that unit is taught. What this means is that the University now has authorised 12 teaching periods.
When you re-enrol, you must now be careful to select the correct teaching period for the unit you want to take. The teaching period will be coded as indicated in here.
As a general rule the majority of re-enrolling students will be selecting units offered as:091 (Semester one 2009) or
092 (Semester two 2009)
If you have any questions regarding the correct teaching period, please contact your School Student Support Officer.
