Availability of results

Your final assessment results will normally be available on SIMO, after Board of Examiners ratification, by the fourth week after the end of the final examination period each semester. Results for Semester 2, 2008 will be released on SIMO during week commencing 15 December.

Missing a Result?

If you are missing a result please EMAIL your name, student number and the unit code for the missing result to assessments@ecu.edu.au .

Assessments will check our records to see if your result has been received from your Faculty. If it hasn't we will forward your email to your lecturer and student support officer so that it can be followed up for you.

Thank you for cooperating by emailing your query - this will make it much easier for us to direct your query to the appropriate area.

Transcript of results

Your academic results are provided on SIMO.
A complimentary original Statement of Academic Record together with a graduation invitation will be mailed to students who have completed their course.

Students who have not completed their course but require an academic transcript can purchase one from Student Central.

Your results cannot be provided to another person without written authority signed by you.

Statement of Academic Record

  • Studies completed since 1983

A formal Statement of Academic Record can be purchased through Student Central using a Request for Academic Transcript form.
Academic transcripts will be ready for collection or posted out to you within two working days.

  • Studies completed prior to 1983

For pre-1983 transcripts (fee applicable) please contact Student Central direct.
An archived transcript may take up to two weeks to process.

Course completion - Graduation

Once your final results are available - your record on screen should show "Completed" status.
A complimentary original Statement of Academic Record together with a graduation invitation will be mailed to you. Check your graduation details online.

If you believe you have completed your course and your record does not show ‘Completed’ status on screen, contact your home campus Student Central immediately.

Grading Systems

C* Pass - (Conceded) and Supplementary assessments (S, PS, FS)

In accordance with Rule 25: Academic Progression Status – Board of Examiners Discretion:

  1. Subject to sub-rule (2), at the end of each teaching period the Board of Examiners of the relevant Faculty shall determine the academic progression status of each student in accordance with the criteria set out in rules 26, 27 and 28.
  2. In determining a student’s academic progression status in accordance with sub-rule (1), the Board of Examiners may exercise such discretion as the Board considers reasonable in the circumstances.
  3. Where a higher education course work student has failed only one unit in a semester, the Board of Examiners may: -
    1. grant the student a conceded pass or supplementary assessment in that unit if the student has received a mark of 45 or more, with a grade of ‘N’ or ‘I’; or
    2. grant the student a supplementary assessment in that unit if the student has received a mark of 40 or more with a grade of ‘N’ or ‘I’ and by successful completion of the supplementary assessment the student would immediately complete the course; or
    3. affirm the awarded grade in that unit.
  4. A conceded pass shall retain the numerical grade originally awarded but shall be given a literal grade of C*.
  5. Where a higher education student
    1. attains a pass in a supplementary assessment, the grade PS will be substituted for the original grade; and,
      1. where the original grade was N the pass shall be assigned a percentage of 50; and
      2. where the original grade was I, the pass will carry the original numerical assessment;
    2. fails a supplementary assessment the grade of FS will be recorded on the student’s record for that unit;
    3. fails a unit at a supplementary assessment, the student shall be required to repeat that unit or such alternative unit as may be directed by the Board of Examiners.

H - Results Not Available

Check with your tutor to ensure that you have no outstanding assessments. If you sat an off campus examination there may be a delay in the receipt of the examination script by the marker.

I - Fail (Incomplete & Repeat)

Extract of 31. UNITS NOT COMPLETED

  1. Subject to sub-rule (2), a student who fails to complete the requirements of a unit shall be deemed not to have completed that unit and shall receive:
    1. a grade of I, where the cumulative assessment is 50 or more; or
    2. a grade of N, where the cumulative assessment is less than 50.
  2. Subject to sub-rules 33A(5) and (6) and 34(1), if a student has been awarded a grade of I in respect of a unit, the student must repeat the unit.

W - Withdrawn and WF - Withdrawn Fail

Rule 32. GRADE ON WITHDRAWAL FROM UNITS

  1. A student who gives written notification of withdrawal from a unit to the Coordinator Assessments or his or her nominee, after the specified financial penalty date but before the specified academic penalty date shall receive a grade of W.
    1. A withdrawal from a unit prior to the financial penalty date specified by the Director or his or her nominee will not be displayed on a student’s official Statement of Academic Record.
  2. Subject to sub-rule (3), a student who withdraws from a unit after the specified academic penalty shall be deemed not to have completed the unit and shall receive a grade of WF, except in the case of a student enrolled in an honours, research master or doctoral thesis unit, who shall receive a grade of W.
  3. The Dean of the Faculty or his or her nominee, after receiving satisfactory evidence from the Coordinator Assessments or his or her nominee that a student is unable to complete all or any of the requirements of a unit by reason of illness or other circumstances beyond the student’s control, may:
    1. approve withdrawal without penalty and award a grade of W for the unit; and
    2. specify requirements for the completion of the unit.
