Frequently Asked Questions about Counselling

How long is a session?
This depends on the nature of your request. A counselling session will take up to 50 minutes for any personal problems that you wish to discuss.

Cost of a session?
There is no cost for a session with an ECU counsellor.

Can I consult a counsellor as often as I want to?
Sessions are available only on a short to medium term basis. (ie: usually no longer than ten sessions per year). If you wish, you can make another appointment with your counsellor at the end of each session, or when you feel the need by contacting the service.

What if I need to be referred?
If it is decided you need ongoing or specialist counselling, a counsellor can help put you in touch with a service in the community that best meets your needs.

Will my parents or partner get informed when I seek counselling?
