Counselling
Confidentiality
Can information about me be shared with others?
Under ordinary circumstances, information about you is only released to people outside of the Counselling Service when we have your clear permission. This means that you must fill out and sign a written consent form prior to releasing information about you, unless a verbal agreement is satisfactory for you and the counsellor involved.
Information is only disclosed without your permission when the counsellor feels there is a clear danger to your own safety or that of others, or there is a legal obligation to do so. Legal obligations includes a court subpoena, a valid search warrant, or legislated requirements.
All our counsellors are psychologists, who are registered with the WA Psychologists Registration Board. Counsellors are required to abide by the Australian Psychological Society's Code of Ethics, principles that outline professional conduct, responsibilities and confidentiality.
