What do I do if I need help but no counsellor is available?

You could start with approaching somebody you trust and share your concerns or problems with that person. It can be a friend, partner or colleague; it doesn't have to be a professional.

However, if this doesn't help or nobody is available or you need more professional help please contact one of these services:

General counselling services

Centrecare

Centrecare delivers a wide range of counselling, mediation, support, accommodation and training services from office locations in Perth, Mirrabooka, Joondalup, Carlisle, Bunbury, Kalgoorlie and Esperance.  Centrecare also provides a range of professional on-line counselling services.

Cost There are various fee scales, which are dependent upon the level of government subsidy for the program you are interested in attending.  Fees can also be scaled dependent on your income.

Kinway  (Head Office)

Kinway provide a confidential counselling service. Counselling is for individuals, couples, families and children who are concerned about their relationships. Various locations in the metropolitan areas; including Fremantle, Girrawheen, Gosnells, Joondalup and Rockingham.

Lifeline

Lifeline is a 24 hour confidential phone counseling service available nationwide. It provides counselling across arrange of issues including relationship and family concerns, mental health concerns, loss, violence, addiction, suicide prevention and much more. This is a particularly valuable contact for those in emotional need after hours of professional support. Face to face counselling may also be provided upon request.

Relationships Australia

Various locations in the metropolitan area including Armadale, Bunbury, Fremantle, Joondalup, Midland, Mirrabooka, and Rockingham.  Relationships Australia provide an extensive range of services including family and relationship counselling, marriage and relationship education, mediation and family skills training.

Psychiatric Emergency Team (PET)

Psychiatric emergency assessment & advisory service to assist mental health clients & their carers. During business hours Monday to Friday callers will be referred to their local mental health service

Centre For Clinical Interventions (CCI)

CCI is a WA public health service offering cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for individuals suffering from anxiety disorders and depression. Individual and group treatments are available.   A referral from your GP or referral agency is required.

Alcohol and drug services

Alcohol and Drug Information Service (ADIS)

ADIS is a 24 hour, confidential telephone service for people in Western Australia. It provides information, counselling, referral and advice to anyone concerned about their own or another’s alcohol or other drug use.

Holyoake

Holyoake provides a range of services including individual counselling, specifically designed alcohol and drug programs, family programs (spouses, parents, other relatives, children), professional and community education and training, a residential service for men, outreach to young people and parents and services to adults in prison and juveniles in detention.

Sexual abuse service

Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC)

Provides medical, forensic and confidential counselling services to victims of sexual assault or abuse recently or in the past. Service is for males and females aged 13 years and over. Referral can be made directly or via a referring agency. The 24 hr line is for those in crisis due to sexual assault.

Legal Aid
