Are there things I can do to help myself?
There a range of things you can do to make sure appropriate resources are made available to you. There are a range of things you can do to assist in the provision of your resources:
- Spend some time thinking about what you will need to get through your course at University and locate any relevant supporting documentation.
- Self Directed Action information will assist you with identifying and developing the skills for effective self advocacy.
- Prepare the documentation you will need to support your registration as a student with a medical condition or disability. This documentation is required in order to request alternative exam arrangements, learning supports , provision of materials in alternative formats . These may be recommendations from your practitioner, psychologist, etc., or reports from your school, doctor, the Curriculum Council.
- Indicate on your enrolment form that you have a medical condition or disability. The forms for registration and applications for alternative exam arrangements are available from the Student Equity and Diversity Officer on campus or online.
- Contact the Equity and Diversity Officer to register your condition so that provision can be made for you needs. Early registration will ensure that your resources and arrangements for alternative exam conditions for example, can be in effect at the beginning of semester and avoid any last minute stress.
- Contact your School Student Support Officer who can also assist in the provision of resources and course requirements.
- Confidentiality. Information regarding your medical condition or disability is strictly confidential and is protected by highly restricted access. Discuss any concerns you have with the Student Equity and Diversity Officer.
