Students

The Student Portal is the gateway to web applications, the Student Intranet and student related information at ECU. Designed for you, the Portal web page provides access to our many applications such as Blackboard, MetaQuest and online exams submission, as well as links to external websites from the My Communities menu.

The Student Intranet is a great source of information specifically to our students. Live news updates and all-inclusive dates and events calendars will have you up-to-speed with activities happening across the University including semester and exam timetables, enrolments dates, social events and workshops and training for things like library research and peer mentoring. There’s support for your studies, health and finances, information about fees and life on campus plus a whole lot more.

Easy Logins

This box allows you to connect to many of our web applications without having to login individually to each one. You can customise your 'Easy Logins' list by clicking on the 'edit pencil' next to the 'Easy Logins' box title. When customising your list you must ensure that you click on the 'Apply' and then the 'OK' buttons to save your selection. If you have applications in your 'Easy Logins' which you require access to and are unable to login, you should lodge an enquiry with the IT Service Desk on 6304 6000. 

Other Logins

This box allows you to connect to web applications which are not currently not enabled in the 'Easy Logins' box. These web applications may require you to use a separate username and password, usually unique to each web system. You can customise your 'Other Logins' list by clicking on the 'edit pencil' next to the 'Other Logins' box title. When customising your list you must ensure that you click on the 'Apply' and then the 'OK' buttons to save your selection. If you have applications in your 'Easy Logins' which you require access to and are unable to login, you should lodge an enquiry with the IT Service Desk on 6304 6000. 

Favourites

This box enables you to store links to frequently used websites in the same manner as your internet web browser 'bookmarks' feature. All portal users are given adefault set of favourites which you can customise by clicking on the 'edit pencil' next to the 'Favourites' box title. 

  • To add a favourite enter the address in the 'Url' field and a name of your choosing in the 'Title' field and then click on the 'Add' button.
  • To delete a favourite click on the red-cross corresponding to the favourite.
  • To change the order of the favourites list click on the corresponding up and down arrows next to the favourites title.

Please ensure you click on the 'Ok' button to save your changes. 

News (My Feeds)

This box shows the latest news that you have subscribed to from various sources within the University. You can manage your subscriptions by clicking on the 'edit pencil' next to the 'My Feeds' box title. Click on the title of a story to continue through to its full article. 

My Units

This displays a snapshot of your current enrollment details. If your 'My Units' list is incorrect you should contact the Student Services Centre to have it verfied and corrected. Within this box you can; 

  • View your unit outlines by clicking on the unit title links.
  • View your course outline by clicking on the course link.
  • Access your Blackboard unit webpage by clicking on the Blackboard link.
  • Access your E-Reserve unit webpage by clicking on the E-Reserve link.

My Forms

This displays information regarding any online forms submitted. It allows you interact with your online form submissions in real-time. Within this box you can;

  • View any saved online forms that you might have underway.
  • View any online forms that require action by you to continue its processing.
  • View any online forms submitted by you that are currently being processed.
  • View the current progress of a submitted form using the 'Progress tracker'.
  • Withdrawal a form submitted using the online forms system.
  • Access your online forms history. This will show the history of any online forms you have submitted in the past.

Links

This box shows a summary of the top-level sections of the Student Intranet website. Students can navigate the Student Intranet by clicking on the links at the of the Student Portal. 

My Account

This box shows you how many days until your current password expires. You can change your password by clicking on the 'Change password' link. Changing your password requires you to enter your current password in the 'Old password' field, and your new password in the 'New password' and 'Repeat New password' fields, then accepting the 'ECU Conditions of Use' by clicking on the check box and finally clicking on the 'Submit' button to save your change. 

Password Guidelines

  • Do not write your password down.
  • Your password must be 6 or more characters in length.
  • Your password must contain at least 1 letter and 1 non-alpha character (numbers or punctuation) except full colon : , and must not be the same as your 'ECU Login ID'.

Social media

The Social Circle has a number of features, allowing visitors to preview the most recent posts on each channel, facebook linking enabled within the page, and information on the social media committee and ECU’s social media policy.

Important Dates

This box shows the important student dates information posted by the Student Services Centre. 

My Communities

This box lists your Blackboard 'Community' sites. Community sites are generally made up of people who share a common interest and the site allows them to share documents and participate in discussions. You can view your Community homepage by clicking on the Community name link. 

Logging out

Remember to log out of the portal and any web applications which you have accessed from within the portal before closing your browser window.
