Gender Equality at ECU
ECU have developed a ‘Gender Equality’ website to support the work on gender equality and the promotion of gender equity activities at ECU. The website includes the development of new content, as well as a significant redesign of the existing Athena SWAN webpages. ECU will continue to ensure regular University-wide promotion of Athena SWAN updates, developments and activities.
ECU is a proud recipient of the Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). This citation recognises ECU's commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive culture. The new Gender Equality website features easy access to ECU’s policies and strategies that promote gender equality as well as the required WGEA reports.
In 2019, ECU was ranked sixth in the world for gender equality within Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings. The new Gender Equality website will provide dedicated information pertaining to ECU’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and THE University Impact Rankings.
Additionally, the website continues to include stories of University staff who feature on the ‘Our Stories’ segment which captures the staff experiences of all gender at ECU. Our Stories shows how various members of our community pursue their studies and careers at ECU in both academic and professional capacities.
