ECU’s Strategic Research Institutes and Centres are showing leadership by ensuring equity and inclusion in their establishment processes. Assessments of expression of interests, will include looking for the specific mention of how the principles of Athena SWAN are reflected, and especially requiring careful gender-based considerations in STEMM disciplines. As well as an explicit request for proposed entities to clearly outline how they have considered equity and inclusion as part of their business case and plans for the future, considerations of outputs, relative to opportunity, will be employed.

Professor Caroline Finch AO, ECU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) said “this is a great example of ECU living up to the Athena SWAN Charter in our day-to-day operations”.
