ECU students have been nominated for the AWSN Women in Security Awards
The annual Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) Awards showcases the growing number of women working in and engaging with the security sector. The AWSN is a national network that aims to grow the number of women in the security community and seeks to connect those women already in the industry and those looking to enter the field, with the required tools and knowledge to succeed.
In July, ECU School of Science - Master of Cyber Security Student, Meidi van der Lee, was announced as a finalist for AWSN Women in Security Awards in the “Best Volunteer or Not-For-Profit Organisation” category.
Meidi volunteers for AWSN, and their Cadet's program, the Girls Programming Network, Open-Source Intelligence events and the ECU Ambassador program. She is a member of Australian Information Security Association, Information Systems Audit and Control Association, Australian Computing Society, TraceLabs and Women in Technology WA Inc. (WiTWA).
As well, ECU School of Science - Bachelor of Science, Cyber Security student Jacynta Grigson is a finalist in the “Most Promising Newcomers in Areas of Protective Security/Resilience” and also in the “The One to Watch” category. In January 2020, Jacynta who is also an Australian Computing Society Student member, was awarded the ECU Cyber Security CRC Scholarship.
Honourees will be recognised in November 2020 at the Annual AWSN Awards Gala Dinner due to be held in Melbourne, Australia.
