Professor Andrew Woodward

Professor Andrew Woodward is the Executive Dean of the School of Science, which includes the two major discipline groupings of Science, and Computing and Security. More specifically, this includes Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Ecology, Environmental Science, Information Technology, Information Science, Mathematics, Physics and Statistics.

Andrew studied Biological Science and Computer Science at the undergraduate level, going on to complete his PhD in plant biology. Andrew became a member of staff at ECU in 1999, and commenced as a full time academic in 2001, in what was the School of Computer and Information Science. In 2013, Andrew was appointed as the Head of School of the School of Computer and Security Science, and appointed as Dean of the School of Science, commencing January 2016. In his leadership roles at ECU, Andrew has a strong commitment to quality teaching, engaged research and a focus on expanding international partnerships.

Professor Woodward has taught a range of subjects including; Wireless networks, Digital forensics, Network security, Network technology, and Operating Systems. His research has been focused on cyber security for over a decade, focusing initially on wireless network security, expanding to digital forensics and then to cyber security policy and risk management. Concurrently, Andrew has consulted to industry and government on a range of cyber security related projects.

He holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science (Hons), Doctor of Philosophy and the Graduate Certificate of Tertiary Teaching. Andrew is also a certified professional member of the Australian Computer Society (MACS- CP).
