Welcome to our first Alumni News for 2021.

I want to begin by acknowledging that the past two weeks have been far from the start to 2021 that many had expected or hoped for. From the snap lockdown to the devastating bushfires that have impacted so many in Western Australia, to the challenges being felt nationally and around the world, we have had our resilience tested and been asked to come together as a community.

We should all be proud of our collective efforts, and extremely grateful to our healthcare workers, frontline responders and firefighters who go above and beyond in their ongoing efforts to protect our health and safety.

My congratulations to more than 4,000 new ECU graduates from the University, a very warm welcome to our fantastic alumni community.

To complete a degree is an achievement at any time, but to do so in the midst of a global pandemic shows your perseverance and dedication to your studies. I wholeheartedly congratulate you.

You now join a global community of over 175,000 ECU alumni with exclusive access to a host of benefits, and broad reach into an international network of ECU graduates who live and work across the world.

The year ahead will no doubt continue to challenge us all in different ways. It is my hope that you all continue to find opportunities for growth and personal fulfilment, both personally and professionally.

I look forward to sharing ECU’s exciting plans and stories with you across the coming year.
