“Experiencing this unique opportunity to study and at the same time helping cancer patients through exercise has been incredible and very fulfilling.”
“As an athlete, getting a degree in Sport Science was crucial in increasing my understanding of the physiological state of the body. Coming to Australia for the first time back in 2002, my first choice was Edith Cowan University (ECU) as it offered its students a chance to undertake practical study in this field.
The university offered me a chance to expand my knowledge by research, specialising in exercise and cancer. ECU, despite being a “young” university, is globally recognised in the field of clinical exercise science especially in cancer.
My supervisors allowed me the freedom to learn at my pace, making sure at all time that I met those milestones. This collaborative approach to research encouraged self-learning, communication and independence to develop and improve, something I find motivating. Learning to network and making contacts has allowed opportunities for me to pursue my career in this field.
Experiencing this unique opportunity to study and at the same time helping cancer patients through exercise has been incredible and very fulfilling.”
