Cultural Immersion

Kurongkurl Katitjin in partnership with RRaft Educators are offering Cultural Immersion Experiences for the University's students and staff.

Join Nyoongar Elder Dr Noel Nannup and learn about Nyoongar history, culture and spirituality whilst being on Country.

Sponsored by Kurongkurl Katitjin, the Cultural Immersion Experiences consist of a one day option (available once during Semester) and a three-day option (available twice during the Semester).

Application Process

Applications will accepted from Monday 25 February 2019 or until places are filled.

  • You can only apply once, so please register your preferred option only.
  • A waitlist will be created if there is a need to do so.
  • Staff and students are required to complete a Travel Approval before commencing an application.
    • Staff - your Travel Approval number is required in the application.
    • Students - your completed Travel Approval Form is required as an attachment in the application.
  1. Complete Application online. NOTE: By completing this form, you are indicating that you are available on the option you have nominated and have already completed your Travel Approval form.
  2. RRaft Educators will receive notification of your submission.
  3. Successful applications will receive confirmation of placement and further instruction directly from RRaft Educators.

What's on offer in 2019

One Day Option

Learn about Nyoongar Boodjar, culture and spirituality. This is a beautiful opportunity to learn about this place we call Perth, to understand what was here before the tall ships came and to learn about what is still here.

  • 9.00am – 4.30pm

Important Information
  • 19 places available on each date
  • Locations include Kings Park, Lake Claremont, Point Walter and the Causeway
  • Collection and drop-off points are at the Mount Lawley campus
  • Travel is by bus
  • Morning Tea and Lunch is provided
  • Participants should bring their own water bottle, wear comfortable shoes and a hat

Three Day Option (2 nights)

Learn about Nyoongar Boodjar, culture and spirituality. This is a beautiful opportunity to learn about ancient songlines on country and listen to stories around the campfire.

Important Information
  • 19 places available on each date
  • Location is outside of the Perth CBD. Weather conditions will determine exact location
  • Collection and drop-off points are at the Mount Lawley campus
  • Travel is by bus
  • Fully catered (all meals are provided)
  • Participants should bring their own sleeping equipment (tent/swag/sleeping bag) and overnight bag
