5 things undergraduate students should know about the Library

Monday, 12 August 2019

The Library contains so much more than books!

ECU Library consists of online and physical resources, access to knowledgeable staff, study and research support and spaces for you to think, work and collaborate.

Here’s five things you should know about your Library.

1. Worldsearch

Worldsearch is the first thing you’ll see on the Library homepage.

It’s your starting point for finding eBooks, journals and more, to prepare for and complete upcoming assignments.

Simply click in the search bar to get started.

2. Library Essentials

This is one of our Library Guides and if you’re new to the Library it has all the main info you’ll need to get going!

The guide includes search tips, borrowing tips, and links to handy services.

3. Databases

The A-Z list of databases is your friend when you need academic sources at your fingertips.

Now you can search databases by type, such as eBook collection only, making it way easier to navigate our huge selection of databases.

SLIDE stands for Student Learning in a Digital Environment.

SLIDE is four online modules which walk you through all the learning technologies you’ll be using while studying at ECU.

You can start at Module 1 or just jump in at the bits you need. SLIDE is designed for you to work through it at your own pace.

5. Study spaces

If you’re an on campus student, chances are you’ll be needing a place to study and chill in between classes.

The Library provides both of these – book a room for silent or group study, use one of our computers or pull up your laptop. You’re also more than welcome to chill out in one of many collaborative areas.

Check our website or visit your Campus Library to find out about all your Library has to offer.
