The Joondalup Library (Building 31) is set to be transformed into a fantastic new collaborative space for students.

The entrance level is being redesigned to offer streamlined on-campus access to University support services, all in one central location.

Works will begin in late October. Most of the renovations will be carried out after Semester 2 exams, during the summer break. The new look Library will be ready for you to use in time for Semester 1, 2021.

The work will be completed in two phases:

October 2020 - November 2020 - Construction begins on the old Co-op bookshop (Library level 2)

  • During this time, you’ll be able to move freely through the eLab and levels 1-3 of the Library as normal.
  • Access to the old bookshop will be blocked off.
  • Exams previously held in the Library will be moved this semester.
  • The works won’t cause any changes to opening hours throughout this time period.

November 2020 (after exams) - February 2021 - Construction across Library levels 1 and 2

  • During this time, services will be moved to level 3. Levels 1 and 2 won't be accessible.
  • Level 3 will offer full Library services during this time. The Library service desk and eLab service desk will operate from level 3, along with group study areas, quiet study areas, microwaves and bookable study rooms.
  • Signs will direct you how to access Level 3 from the main entrance along Joondalup Drive or by entering on level 3.
  • After exams the Library will close at 5pm. JO.2.109 and JO.2.110 will be available offering 24/7 swipe card access as an alternative eLab computer facility (except between 19 December - 3 January).
  • A temporary returns chute will be installed to the right of the main entrance, outside the building.
