ECU Library has acquired the following resources for staff and students, available now.

Bloomsbury: Popular Music Ebook Collection

  • Of the multi-volume Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World, 12 volumes are currently available and three additional volumes are forthcoming.
  • Access 187 volumes of the 33 1/3 book series, providing in-depth analysis of influential albums including the Global 33 ⅓ Series.
  • An expanding range of scholarly books from Bloomsbury’s Popular Music Studies list.
  • Further research and learning tools including subject guides, a timeline of popular music from 1900 to present, and over 500 artist pages.

Drama Online: Currency Press

Access hundreds of plays from Currency Press, a leading Australian publisher of performing arts.

Find titles by a growing list of contemporary Australian writers as well as older works.

  • The collection includes content from playwrights including Nick Enright, Lally Katz, Kate Mulvaney, Joanna Murray-Smith, Tommy Murphy, Louis Nowra and Leah Purcell.
  • The titles included are global and diverse in their origins and themes, offering a wide appeal.

Drama Online: Theatre Communications Group (TCG Books) Play Collection

This collection offers 200+ plays from TCG Books, a large independent trade publisher of dramatic literature in North America. Discover diverse voices in contemporary American theatre, including 18 winners of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The collection features:

  • trade editions of canonical texts spanning multiple decades, genres and forms
  • selected works by celebrated authors including Nilo Cruz, David Henry Hwang, Tony Kushner, Richard Nelson, Dael Orlandersmith, Naomi Wallace, Dominique Morriseau, Suzan-Lori Parks, Young Jean Lee, and Anne Washburn
  • translated and adapted works, and new versions of classics
  • much-studied plays including August: Osage County, Anna in the Tropics, Homebody/Kabul and Mr Burns
  • contemporary classics eg The Sound Inside and What the Constitution Means to Me
