Suggest an item

All ECU staff and students may make suggestions for books or other library items to be purchased for the library collections through the online suggestion forms.

Journals (serials) cannot be suggested using this form. As a staff member wanting to suggest the purchase of a journal, you need to speak to your Subject Librarian. Students, you need to get the approval of your Head of School.

All recommendations are considered in light of the ECU Library Collection Development Principles and budget.

Helpful hints for your request

Always check that the item is not already held in the library before submitting your suggest a purchase. This can be done via the library catalogue. If the item is held but you want duplicate copies ordered please specify this on the request.

If more than one copy of an item is required, please specify the number required in the request (1 copy per 40 students is a general guideline).

If the request is for a videorecording, the library will normally purchase DVD format when available.

Providing as much detail as possible about your required items and allowing sufficient time for items to be obtained (especially for overseas publications) will help to speed up the purchasing process.
