This two-day course offers intensive hands-on training, with full immersion simulations, clinical skills and drills training, and problem-based learning.
Patient safety and quality are at the heart of what we do. Studies have shown that a high proportion of adverse incidents in health care are the result of breakdowns in communication or poor teamwork.
Crisis Resource Management (CRM) is: “a management system which makes optimum use of all available resources – people, procedures, equipment – to promote safety and enhance efficiency during a crisis situation.”
The ECU Health Simulation Centre specialises in training in CRM – training in a safe yet realistic environment, using immersive simulation scenarios and debriefing sessions.
Registered nurses who are beginner practitioners or who anticipate working in anaesthetic settings, PACU or recovery room nurses, nurses employed in day surgery centres, endoscopy units, imaging departments, emergency departments, catheter labs and laser centres.
The course has a strong focus on how a crisis is recognised and subsequently managed. All participants have an opportunity to participate in management of a simulated emergency.
