This course provides immersive simulations where doctors and nurses caring for ICU and HDU patients can practice their Crisis Resource Management skills in dealing with emergency situations.
Patient safety and quality are at the heart of what we do. Studies have shown that a high proportion of adverse incidents in health care are the result of breakdowns in communication or poor teamwork.
Crisis Resource Management (CRM) is: “a management system which makes optimum use of all available resources – people, procedures, equipment – to promote safety and enhance efficiency during a crisis situation.”
The ECU Health Simulation Centre specialises in training in CRM – training in a safe yet realistic environment, using immersive simulation scenarios and debriefing sessions.
Medical Practitioners and Nurses working in Intensive Care and High Dependency Units.
Participants will build their capacity for expert performance in a realistic environment while participating in highly intensive and interactive immersive simulation scenarios.
Scenarios are followed by debriefing sessions facilitated by a trained CRM practitioner.
