Team Skills in Emergency Medicine

This course offers training in the principles of Crisis Resource Management (CRM), using realistic immersive simulation scenarios of emergency situations.

Why train in Crisis Resource Management?

Patient safety and quality are at the heart of what we do. Studies have shown that a high proportion of adverse incidents in health care are the result of breakdowns in communication or poor teamwork.

Crisis Resource Management (CRM) is: a management system which makes optimum use of all available resources – people, procedures, equipment – to promote safety and enhance efficiency during a crisis situation.

The ECU Health Simulation Centre specialises in training in CRM – training in a safe yet realistic environment, using immersive simulation scenarios and debriefing sessions.

Who should attend?

This one-day course has been developed for doctors, and nurses who manage patients in emergency settings.

What will the course provide?

The immersive simulation scenarios of emergency situations are recorded so that team behaviours can be highlighted during the debriefing sessions that follow each scenario.
