Students get the opportunity to work behind the scenes or be program presenters with the Rough Cut program

Rough Cut

As part of an ongoing collaboration with Channel 7 and GWN, students from ECU's Broadcasting course provide a one-hour magazine/current affairs style TV program which is aired on Channel 7 and GWN, receiving State-wide coverage in December or January each year. As part of their coursework, student’s source relevant stories, which they then shoot, write and edit. The best are selected to be included in the Rough Cut program. A student producer and assistant producer then put the program together. Students are program presenters and also work behind the scenes as studio crew.

The initiative provides students with a real-life television program-making experience, proving invaluable for their career prospects and industry knowledge, while providing Channel 7 and GWN with locally produced content.
