About this Specialisation

This specialisation provides students with the opportunity to further develop their knowledge, understanding and skills to teach Health and Physical Education.

It highlights the importance of Health and Physical Education in the Australian Curriculum and its influence on the learning, development, health and well-being of children. The specialisation units examine contemporary issues, trends and learning activities in Health and Physical Education within varied contexts. Special emphasis is placed on strategies for greater pupil involvement in the learning process and the development of cross curricular skills. Particular focus is given to developing additional depth of understanding of expert content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge and highly effective classroom teaching in Health and Physical Education.
