"Perth is one of the most relaxed and beautiful cities I've been so far."
I chose to take up my postgraduate studies at ECU because of its diversified and friendly approach among international students. Being one of the youngest university the world, ECU was recognised as one of the universities that offers quality education.
ECU facilities were top of the line and student friendly providing convenience and accessibility to all students. The campus has a pleasant atmosphere, where students feel relaxed and safe. For the past two semesters I've made friends with students of different nationalities.
Perth is one of the most relaxed and beautiful cities I've been so far. People are so friendly and welcoming. I love exploring Perth's beautiful beaches.
My study tip: Be emotionally and mentally prepared as you'll enter a challenging and life-changing journey. However, don't forget to enjoy and make the most out of your learning journey because with ECU it will be possible.
"I feel safe and a sense of belonging when I am at ECU"
I chose ECU for biomedical science because it has a flexible course structure. In my three years of studies, I was allowed to take units that interest me as electives, while also completing compulsory (core) units. It enhanced my whole study experience.
The atmosphere at ECU is inclusive and has a community feeling to it. I feel safe and a sense of belonging when I am at ECU. Lecturers are very engaging and approachable which helped me keep track on my studies. They are knowledgeable and passionate about the things they do.
If you are an international student who is new to ECU, get yourself involved as much as you can in whatever interests you. Help is always available and there are people ready to advocate for you if you need them. Join a club or a University activity, volunteer your time and put yourself out there!
"The internship I completed in my final semester has been the perfect stepping stone to advance my career"
I chose to study International Hotel and Resort Management at ECU because I had heard of the practical nature of the course. My lecturers were very experienced in the hospitality and tourism industry and provided real life examples and case studies to link theory with current industry practice.
I was lucky enough to take part in the Borneo study tour, and no words can describe how amazing that experience was. In my final semester at ECU, I was able to secure an internship placement. That experience was great, as it allowed me to put what I had learnt into practice, at the same time as learning plenty of new skills from my supervisors and colleagues. Since graduating, I have been lucky enough to be accepted in to the graduate program at Accor hotels, where I will be relocating to Broome. This is truly my greatest achievement so far, and I am excited for the new challenges ahead of me.
