OH&S specialist stream caters to workplace safety law changes

From January 1, 2022 there will be changes to the WA Work Health and Safety Act (2020) that increase duty of care responsibilities for workplaces and for OHS professionals. In response to the anticipated need to upskill people in OHS-related roles, we've created a specialist stream within our online Graduate Certificate course.

Student stories

  • Amy Dixon

    Amy Dixon

    ECU postgraduate Neurological Rehabilitation student

The knowledge I have learned has really improved my capabilities and I have noticed a confidence in my practice

I am currently working in physiotherapy and wanted to specialise in neurological rehabilitation. I chose ECU as it was the only university in WA offering postgrad studies designed for increasing knowledge in neurological rehabilitation.

I am enjoying studying online and the weekly modules are motivating. The content is relevant and thought provoking, and there are are plenty of opportunities to collaborate with peers using the discussion board.

  • Jesse Hesford

    Jesse Hesford

ECU Exercise & Sports Science graduate. Former Head of 1st Team Performance Analysis, Perth Glory

The course prepared me for a role with Perth Glory Football Club.

The football performance major is not just about the football. It's not just about being on-ground, learning about the tactics or the principle of play; it's so much more than that. Like learning about skill acquisition or learning about leadership and sports psychology, which was of great interest to me.

  • Rebekah Wilson

    Rebekah Wilson

    ECU PhD candidate (Exercise Oncology)

I wanted to work with the best

I decided to study at ECU for two reasons. Firstly, I wanted to move to a new country as I felt the only way to learn more was to get out of my comfort zone. And secondly, I moved here because of my supervisors. They are leading researchers in the exercise oncology field and I wanted to work with the best.

A highlight for me so far has been presenting at the Asia-Pacific Prostate Cancer Conference during the first year of my PhD.

In the future, I hope to stay within the university circles and share my wealth of information with young students to build a strong foundation for their careers.
