Team ECU had the pleasure of attending the recent Bunbury SHIFT Youth festival, along with 2,500 enthused members of the Bunbury community.

Organised by The City of Bunbury Youth Advisory Council, visitors enjoyed music by Shell, Perth hip hop artist, Arno Faraju and local artists/scientists and musicians.

Bunbury Youth Mayor Sean Smith, long term supporter of the event said, “This is the fifth year of the event which continues to grow and the Youth Advisory Council is proud to bring something exciting and relevant to Bunbury’s young people.”

Representing Team ECU SW was the future student team, science researcher and SW science campus coordinator Dr Sora Estrella Marin, and ECU science students, Emily Lette and Daisy Kermode.  The team were on hand to give information about all the science courses on offer, including the exciting news that the Bachelor of Science (Conversations and Wildlife Biology/Environment Management) is now being offered for students to study at the SW campus.

Georgina Ferriera, the SW Future Students Coordinator was thrilled that ECU were invited to be part of this exciting event, sharing:

“ECU has an incredible opportunity to make the most out of its unique position within the South West region through engaging the local community. The Shift Youth Festival was a wonderful example of how our brand resonates with the local community and can share all that tertiary education has to offer with regional West Australians.”

ECU are committed to supporting regional students and have many more exciting engagement events planned for 2019.  For more information on these events, please contact Michelle Austin, Science Outreach and Engagement Coordinator, m.austin@ecu.edu.au.
