Early-career academics

A career in academia with ECU can enable you to follow your passion and make a difference through teaching, research and engagement with our communities.

We offer full-fee scholarships for study in the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching to sessional or existing staff who impact on the student learning experience and want to pursue excellence in teaching.

Committed to undertaking research that makes a difference to our communities and society in general, our early-career academics receive comprehensive training and support in developing their researcher capability, profile and output.

Starting an academic career can occur when you are a postgraduate student developing a passion for a particular study area. You may want to create new knowledge, share your learning through teaching and mentorship, or as a discipline practitioner, begin with part-time sessional tutoring and lecturing.
