Welcome to the Faculty of Education and Arts.
We offer a range of highly regarded teaching and research units including the School of Communications and Arts; School of Education; Kurongkurl Katitjin, and WAAPA.
Our undergraduate and postgraduate programs cover areas from performing and visual arts; to public relations, broadcasting and language to Aboriginal studies. We also provide the full range of courses in education such as early childhood studies; primary and secondary teaching; TESOL and leadership. For qualified professionals seeking further expert knowledge or those looking for a career change, our graduate programs are offered in flexible modes to suit working professionals and part-time study.
Our excellent modern facilities include computer laboratories, art and design studios, theatres, digital video, music and broadcast suites, micro-teaching units and exhibition and performance spaces, in which the work of students, staff and visiting experts is regularly exhibited and performed for the public.
The professional orientation of our programs includes professional and community work experience, internships and clinical education with many partners in industry and government and we take pride in our strong links with major employers in communities, school systems and commercial corporations.
Joint research programs in areas such as education, performing and visual arts, communications and Aboriginal knowledge and culture extend and inform our work.
Our research centres include the Edith Cowan Institute for Education and Research; the Fogarty Learning Centre; the Centre for Schooling and Learning Technologies; the Centre for Research in Entertainment, Arts, Technology, Education and Communication; the Centre for Visual Chinese Culture; and Kurongkurl Katitjin Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research.
