Competitions and prizes

Each year, we congratulate our high achieving students with competitions, prizes and awards in order to help them reach their potential through extracurricular pursuits.

Faculty competitions

The Science and Engineering Challenge

The Science and Engineering Challenge is a competition for Year 9 students aiming to present science and engineering in an inspirational manner, excite the imagination of prospective students and provoke their interest through a variety of well-designed tasks.

Activities range from problem solving scenarios to designing and building projects. The program has received enormous encouragement from teachers with many indicating that the Challenge has been vital in engaging and inspiring students towards continuing their studies in science.

The Challenge is supported by the School of Engineering and takes place in Kalgoorlie, Geraldton, Australind, Mt Barker, Rockingham and Perth. The Challenge runs during October and November each year with the winning state team being invited to take part in the National Science and Engineering Challenge. In 2010, over 2,600 students and 170 teachers participated from around the state.
