The purpose of the Ramsay Health Care Scholarship is to assist an ECU Undergraduate Nursing Student by reducing the financial burden of studies, and to assist them in achieving their career goals.

Ramsay Health Care is committed to supporting the professional development of our future nursing and midwifery workforce. Their company slogan “People caring for people” was developed over 50 years ago and has become synonymous with the way they operate their business. They recognise that “care” is not just a value statement, but a critical part of daily operations.

With a focus on initiatives that will improve health care delivery, Ramsay Health Care has developed a strong culture to succeed through pride in achievements, integrity, credibility, and respect. This culture is known as the “The Ramsay Way”, and their scholarship is awarded to students who radiate these values.  Applicants are asked to submit a reflective essay about their experience of linking the Ramsay Health Care values with their own clinical practice, with a focus on patient outcomes, quality and safety in nursing practice and service delivery.

“Ramsay Health Care has a long tradition of commitment to supporting students. As such, the annual WA Ramsay Health Care Undergradplus™ Nursing scholarship is an event celebrated in the tradition of The Ramsay Way values developed by Paul Ramsay. This year’s recipient of the annual scholarship demonstrated The Ramsay Way values and her commitment to professionalism in a well-articulated reflection on her early years in practice as a student. Teagan has a bright future ahead of her as a nurse, with a clear passion towards caring for an ageing population and a special interest in research and dementia care; the nursing profession also looks bright with novice practitioners, such as Teagan, demonstrating a pursuit of excellence in care and compassion” said Anne Green, Regional Training & Development Manager, Ramsay Health Care WA.

"I'm very proud and grateful to have been selected as the recipient for the Ramsay Health Care Scholarship. To be recognised by such a prominent organisation as deserving of the funds was a fantastic feeling. The funds have been a welcome help during practicum placements and throughout the semester, easing some of the financial stress and allowing me to focus attention on becoming the best nurse I can be. Thank you to Ramsay Health Care and to ECU for establishing such affiliations that provide students with these opportunities" said Teagan Bewick, 2017 Ramsay Health Care Scholarship recipient.

Applications for the 2018 Ramsay Health Care Scholarship will open in January. For further information about this scholarship or to enquire about facilitating your own scholarship please visit https://www.ecu.edu.au/scholarships/
