The Office of Development and Alumni Relations today celebrated some of our exceptionally talented scholarship recipients, as well as recognising the generosity of the donors that make philanthropic scholarships possible.

ECU’s leadership team, lead by Chancellor Kerry Sanderson and Vice-Chancellor Steve Chapman, hosted a number of our valued donors including The Fogarty Foundation and Perth Airport, amongst many other valued supporters of our university.

Philanthropic support is so meaningful and has a great deal of personal significance to donors. It was heart-warming hearing from Sharon Grosser, who explained why donating to the Lincoln McCashney Memorial Scholarship means so much to her. Lincoln dedicated his life to help those around him achieve their best, there could be no better way to honour his legacy than to continue assisting others in his name.

Ms Carole Dhu spoke about her scholarship, the David Templeman & Carole Dhu Scholarship, and why supporting regional students who have to relocate to Perth to study at WAAPA is so important to her.

Sarah Mills, a Perth Airport Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Scholarship recipient, delivered a moving speech on her heritage and discussed how much she valued receiving her scholarship.

Scholarships make such a tremendous impact in the lives of our students; it gives recipients the encouragement and support to achieve their dreams. It’s often the belief that someone has in you that drives you to achieve greatness, and that is exactly what a scholarship provides.

If you’re interested in finding out more about supporting scholarships or would like to discuss making a donation to ECU, please contact the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
