ECU has strengthened its existing links with three Shanghai universities.
Edith Cowan University (ECU) President and Vice Chancellor Professor Kerry O. Cox and his delegation have visited three of ECU’s long-standing partner universities to sign new agreements.
Formal Agreements between ECU and Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai University of Electric Power, and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology were settled, which will facilitate articulation at undergraduate level, new student-and-staff exchange opportunities and research, including postgraduate research-degree training.
Speaking after the series of visits, Professor Cox said he was impressed by both the city and the people he met.
"I am very impressed by the rapid emergence of Shanghai as one of the impressive cities of the world and by the commitment of staff and students at the universities to global perspectives of their futures,” Professor Cox said.
“One of my memorable meetings was with a group of young undergraduate and postgraduate students for about 30 minutes. They were generous, confident, positive and engaging, speaking very good English and encouraging me to continue on my long journey of learning some words and phrases in Mandarin."
Professor Cox and his delegation will next visit universities in Hangzhou, Jinhua and Shenzen before attending the International Seminar on Internationalisation of Education.
