There are essential events where you’ll be introduced to life at ECU, your course and key staff.

Orientation activities are scheduled at different times so you can choose a time that suits you. You are required to attend events that match the course you have enrolled in as well as personal study needs.

Join a club

Getting to know your fellow students and finding your tribe makes settling in much easier. ECU has clubs covering culture, sports, course specific clubs, and more.

Graduate research induction program

The Graduate Research Induction Program (GRIP) is an online training program for all new ECU research students. It provides essential information to get you started on your research journey.

Get your student card

You'll need your Student ID card when you attend Orientation events, use on-campus printing services, borrow library resources and to access buildings. It also doubles as a TransPerth SmartRider card once you complete the Transperth Consent Declaration online, giving you student rates on public transport.

We encourage you to complete the Transperth Consent Declaration online before visiting a campus eLab counter to get your Student ID card, where your photo will be taken and your card will be produced while you wait.

Our orientation events are also open to online students. We have weekday, evening and weekend events to help you get ready for study so, if you’re able to visit the campus, you are welcome to attend.

Orientation for Online Students

Ensure you complete your ECU Student Orientation online via Blackboard. This Blackboard site has been established to provide a basic Orientation for new students who have been unable to attend an O Day or orientation activities on campus.

If you can't get to a campus, you can complete the application for a student ID card and submit it with a passport sized photo of yourself as directed on the form. You can also get your student ID card from any of our eLab counters on campus, where your photo will be taken and your card will be produced while you wait.

It also doubles as a TransPerth SmartRider cardonce you complete the Transperth Consent Declaration online, giving you student rates on public transport if you reside in Perth.
