ECU academic receives international industry recognition

Congratulations to Director of International and Industry Partnerships in Edith Cowan University’s (ECU) School of Communication and Arts, Miss Diane Slade, who recently received the International Advertising Association (IAA) Medal of Merit, as part of the IAA 42nd World Congress in Moscow.
Miss Slade is the first Australian academic to receive the award, which recognises her passion and dedication to her students as well as her professional development in the field.
The medal was presented at a gala dinner on Wednesday, May 12, at the Kremlin Palace Congress Centre in Moscow.
Miss Slade said she was delighted to receive the award.
“The IAA has played an integral role in my advertising and academic career.
“It is for me, the ultimate accolade to have been acknowledged by the global industry with this Medal of Merit.”
Miss Slade was also recently re-elected as Vice-President Education of the IAA Global Executive Committee, and selected to be the Master of Ceremonies for the IAA Russian Student Day, held on May 14, at the Kremlin State Palace.
The IAA has strong links with ECU, providing students with a number of learning opportunities.
“The IAA network and global membership of senior industry contributes an enormous amount to the advertising course here at ECU,” said Miss Slade.
“From providing proprietary research data for student projects to hosting study tour groups across the world, IAA gives ECU student’s world class opportunities to develop their skills on an international level.”
