The Australian newspaper's Research Awards 2023 has announced three ECU researchers are the nation's top leader in their research fields.

The Research Awards are The Australian's recognition of excellence for the talent and diligence of researchers whose work often has extraordinary impacts in the broader community.

Congratulations go to ECU Professor Loretta Baldassar who tops both her fields of research in Human Migration and Ethnic & Cultural Studies Humanities, and to ECU Professor Navjot Bhullar who is leading research in Mental Health and ECU's Dr Luke Hopper who is headlining in Drama & Theatre Arts for his research in dance.

The leading Australian researcher in a field is selected objectively based on both quality and impact, on the number of citations given by peers to research published in that field's top journals.

This is the fifth year The Australian has published the annual Research magazine with a unique annual list that awards the best researchers across 250 fields of research.

This year The Australian featured ECU's Luke Hopper learns how to reduce injuries suffered by dancers.
