Get one step ahead before the start of semester! Work through the below four sections to complete your orientation and register for orientation events. Find out what’s on offer, how to get connected and ready to study, and where to ask for help.

Events

Attending Orientation is a great way to get started at ECU.

There are essential activities and events that can help you settle in, learn about the support services available, meet key staff and ensure you are ready to study.

Orientation activities are offered at different times so you can easily create an Orientation schedule that best suits you.

Need to cancel an event registration?

  • Open your event confirmation email if you would like to cancel one of your Orientation event registrations.
  • Select ‘Click here to return some or all of your tickets’ towards the bottom of your event booking confirmation email under ‘TICKET RETURN’.
  • If you can’t find your event confirmation email you can search for lost tickets on TryBooking.

Student email

Your student email account is where you will receive all official communication from ECU. Make sure you check it often or you might miss something really important.

Student Guide

The ECU Student Guide is available on the Student Intranet and contains essential information about the University and student support services.

Follow us on social media

Keep up to date with important happenings, announcements, events and all things ECU on our Current Students social media channels.

Join a club

Getting to know your fellow students and joining a community makes settling in much easier. ECU has a variety of clubs you can join with a range of interests including culture, sports, course specific clubs, and more.

Study timetable

When you have completed your enrolment by following the steps in VIP, simply login to SIMO (Student Information Management Online) and select 'study timetable' on the left-hand side menu. To make sure you never miss a class, enter the details into your calendar, set it as your screen background or print a copy to pin up in your study space. If you have any problems enrolling in your units contact us.

Access your booklist

Booklists are available from the Co-op bookshop website. Simply search for Edith Cowan University and your units to see if a booklist is registered. Not all units require you to purchase books so if you don't see your unit listed there may be no books required. The ECU Library also provides an Online Library Service for eligible students.

Get your student card

You'll need your Student ID card when you attend Orientation events, use on-campus printing services, borrow library resources and to access buildings. It also doubles as a Transperth SmartRider card once you complete the Transperth Consent Declaration online, giving you student rates on public transport.

We encourage you to complete the Transperth Consent Declaration online before visiting a campus eLab counter to get your Student ID card, where your photo will be taken and your card will be produced while you wait.

Learn about ECU systems and learning

ECU uses a variety of digital learning systems and there is a series of online modules available to teach you everything you need to know. These are called SLIDE (Student Learning in a Digital Environment).

Online Orientation

If you didn’t attend a Get Set for ECU session, enrolled after the Orientation period or missed out on Orientation activities, you can complete your ECU Orientation online via Blackboard.

ECU has an online pre-departure induction for new international students. Complete this as soon as you can as it will help you prepare for life in Australia. We also have helpful international student information available on our website.

Orientation for Online Students

Complete your Orientation online via Blackboard. This Blackboard site has been established to provide an Orientation experience for new students who have been unable to attend a Get Set for ECU session or Orientation activities on campus.

If you can't get to a campus, you can complete the application for a student ID card and submit it with a passport sized photo of yourself as directed on the form. You can also get your student ID card from any of our eLab counters on campus, where your photo will be taken and your card will be produced while you wait.
